By-laws
This year, ICOM CONSERVATION is undertaking a comprehensive governance review to update our 2014 By-Laws.
This initiative is part of a global effort led by ICOM, where all 35 International Committees have been charged with modernizing their internal structures. This update will bring ICOM CONSERVATION inline with the ICOM 2022 Statutes and the revised ICOM Internal Rules (slated for approval in 2026), ensuring our working practices are fully aligned with the current standards of the international museum community.
Why This Matters
Strengthening our governance framework ensures that our committee remains a transparent, agile, and legally robust branch of the ICOM network. This process allows us to better serve our members and strategically shape our policies, programs, and activities for the upcoming 2026–2029 triennium.
Task Force & Progress
The ICOM CONSERVATION Directory Board has appointed a dedicated task force to lead this review of our current practices. We are committed to keeping our membership informed and involved throughout this transition.
Town Hall Information Session: 10 March 2026
We invite all members to attend a Town Hall meeting where we will report on the project’s progress and provide an overview of the governance updates. To accommodate our global membership, we are offering two identical sessions:
- Session 1: 10:00 CET
- Session 2: 16:00 CET
Registration is required.
Further details and documentation regarding the governance review can be found on the ICOM CONSERVATION website.
