Aluminum: History Technology and Conservation Published!

August 12 2019 Modern Materials and Contemporary Art Sculpture, Polychromy, and Architectural Decorations Conferences Archaeological Materials and Sites Metals Scientific Research Preventive Conservation

On behalf of the editors, it brings me great pleasure to announce that the proceedings from the seminal conference Aluminum: History, Technology and Conservation have just been published by the Smithosnian Scholarly Press. The searchable PDF is available for free at the following link: https://opensi.si.edu/index.php/smithsonian/catalog/book/161

We are very pleased to present this volume on a subject matter that is not well understood in the conservation community. This interdisciplinary conference brought together professionals and practitioners from the fields of conservation - many who are members of the Metals Working Group - scientific research, and industry to examine the current state of the field and facilitate an exchange of knowledge, experiences, and expertise in the deterioration and conservation of aluminum alloys. This was the first ever conference convened to address these fundamental issues and dedicated to the conservation of aluminum.

The volume makes a great contribution to the field of modern metals. Please share the good news with your colleagues. Enjoy!
