Metal 2016 technical and social program now available online
The organizing committee for Metal 2016 is pleased to announce that the preliminary conference program is now online. The conference committee has chosen an excellent program with many outstanding speakers and events during the week, including traditional and non-traditional sessions.
A technical session to discuss preservation issues of the incredible 1600 year old Delhi Iron Pillar is a unique feature of the program. The Pillar is part of the Qutab Complex, a UNESCO world heritage site of ancient and historic monuments, where the session will occur.
A moderated panel discussion will also be a feature of the program and will focus on outdoor sculpture and art in public places, ethics, decision making, and the conservator's role in this dialogue. One of the largest cast bronze sculptures in the world will set the scene for this stimulating session. More details to follow soon.

The social program is also online! In addition to opening and closing receptions, we invite you to join us at the beautiful Sanskriti Museum and Gardens for a gala conference dinner, curated tour of the galleries, and a traditional Indian music and dance program.
A post conference day trip to the UNESCO world heritage site of the Taj Mahal is also on our program. Seats are filling up fast so don't miss out! To view the social program, visit: http://www.metals2016.org/socialprogram.htm
There are also four great workshops on offer, a first for the Metals group. Topics include electrolytic techniques, preventive conservation and modern conversion coatings. More information is available at: http://www.metals2016.org/workshops.htm
But wait, there's more! Coming soon will be more information about traditional Indian metalsmith demonstrations during the conference week.
The stage is set for a wonderful conference and an opportunity for colleagues to meet, network, and celebrate with some of the leading voices in our field today. To register for the conference, go to: http://www.metals2016.org/registration.htm
We're looking forward to seeing you in New Delhi!
