11th Masterclass "Loss compensation in paintings - 2nd Edition" - Lisbon, Portugal

The aim of this Masterclass is to give an overview of the materials and techniques used to treat losses in  easel paintings. Topics will include:

- Ethical, aesthetical and technical issues related to fillers and filling treatments

- Traditional, synthetic and commercial fillers

- Mechanical  and  dimensional  properties  of  filling materials

- Reproducibility and evaluation of filling formulations and their  compatibility  with   later   retouching  treatments

- Materials and  methods to reproduce textu res and  impasto

Sessions will blend theory with practice , allowing participants to apply what they learn to the problems each one faces in their conservation practice. Participants are encouraged to bring their own  case studies for group discussion.

Duration: Two and a half days, 30 June to 2 Ju ly 2016

Number of participants: 25 maximum

Registration fee:  €246 -VAT included (for participants who have already attended other 2012 1 masterclasses)
